About London House
The London House idea was concieved by a group of Peoria Kiwanis Clubs who realized the need for suitable low-cost housing for healthy, independent, active senior citizens of Greater Peoria.

In 1959 the Kiwanis Clubs Building Corporation was formed. With the help of a $13,000 grant from the Forest Park Foundation, the site at 1408 E. London Avenue was purchased and work began.

The building plan was chosen: one-level dwellings with well-landscaped surroundings, and functional pleasant interiors. Each apartment with its own bath and kitchen. The plan also has a hobby/meeting room (available for family gatherings), two lounges (larger room with stage), an office, library, on-site laundry, carports and basement secure storage.

Each one or two bedroom unit has windows facing a landscape view of the beautiful private and secure grounds.

This residence allows seniors to maintain their day-to-day active life while sharing their time, talents and resources to support the friendly atmosphere in which they live. Those who are able and have the desire are encouraged to help with the gardens.

Located near major easy access roads, London House is close to shops, stores, restaurants, pharmacies and medical facilities. City bus service stops near our front door. Local hospitals and City Lift provide pick-up service on call.
